At Howick Historical Village the small
children had to line up first, bigger children at the back because they had
only one classroom for big and little children.
The teacher wore a bonnet and a cloak. She
thought the adults had come to school in their underwear.
The girls go first. Hands in front. Boys go
last hands behind backs.
Boys had to be the gentlemen and bowed. The
girls did a curtsy. Then we sat down.
We had to sit up straight and have our
hands on our laps.
The teacher is inspecting our hands to see
if they are clean.
Azaria and Bentley are writing on slates
like they did in the olden days.

Goodness! Schools were very different in the olden days! The teachers look very strict and we can't see any children being naughty or talking to each other!
