Check out the clip below about planets, it's our favourite.
How many can you name?

This week we have been learning about the moon.

Have you ever noticed that the moon changes shape in the sky at night?
We have learned that as the moon orbits the earth the sun shines on its surface differently. This relection is what we see from Earth.

Today we showed the different phases of the moon using oreos!
We even got to eat some too!

Mathematicians in Room 29!

In Room 29 we have been doing problem solving based learning in maths. We have learned how mathematicians work together to solve problems First they need to find the key information, think about what the problem is asking, next they give it a go the they share their thinking or strategy to others and prove their answer.

We know that good mathmeticians...
....give it a go...sometimes disagree but that's ok...never give up but say "this isn't working i'll try something else"...take risks...share their thinking...prove their answers...make connections...work together...make mistakes...check their answers....know problems can have more than one answer!

Check out some of the problems we have been working on...
Ahmed used cubes to make a rod four cubes long:
rod made of four cubes

How many cubes did he need to make a rod twice the length of that one?
How many cubes did he need to make one three times the length?

How many cubes did he need to make one four times the length?

One is a snail, ten is a crab
We read the book One is a Snail, Ten is a Crab and had to find different ways to show numbers using the number of legs different animals in the story had, a snail has 1 leg, a person has 2 legs, a dog has 4 legs... a crab has 10 legs!

Room 5 always busy.

DAFFODIL DAY

We are wearing yellow because it was daffodil day. We were raising money for people who have cancer.
We made daffodils. We painted both sides of the top yellow. We painted the stem green. Mrs Ison stapled and hot glued the pieces together.
We are having pizza to celebrate 100 days of learning at school. The pizzas tasted really good. We have been great learners.
We are busy learners in Room 5. We are looking forward to performing in the Sneetches. See you there!
