Discovery time in Room 11

Tuesday is a popular day in Room 11 because we get to go to the Discovery Room in the afternoon.

This week I observed the class busy choosing from a variety of activities, happily mixing with each other and playing cooperatively. The children were able to share, take turns and sort out problems.                                  

It's great when learning we have been doing in Room 11 carries over into the Discovery Room. Ava decided to make a "Healthy food picnic" for us to share. She wrote some signs - 

"This is healthy for you" and "This is not healthy."
When the picnic was ready we were reminded to eat healthy food first and then the children decided to sort the food into two groups, using Ava's signs, so that we could be sure to eat the healthy food.. Finally we were ready to enjoy our picnic!
                                  

Other activities I observed children taking part in during the afternoon included: dressing up, building, writing, drawing, imaginative play, board games and lots of fun. No wonder

A fun start to the year in Room 28!

Room 28 have had a busy start to the year.  We have enjoyed football and tennis lessons.  We love Te Reo every Wednesday and had so much fun sharing our water skills during our swimming display.

Last Friday we showed off to parents what we are able to do in the water at our swimming display. We were able to stay safe in the water and show we are confident by floating, blowing bubbles and using the flutter boards. We all tried our best and swam well in our mini races.

Room 27's Kiwi Sport Taster

On Thursday 9th February we were lucky enough to get the opportunity to work with Kiwi Sport. We got a 30 minute taster session to get a feel for hockey, soccer and hurdle jumping. 

We had so much fun and were lucky enough to catch 30 minutes of sun!

Room 9's Discovery Time

Here we are choosing fun activities at Discovery Time. During this time we play, share, make, create and take turns together. We learn new ways of solving problems without upsetting each other and think about how we can avoid problems next time.

In Room 26 we had a lovely time sharing our Earth and Beyond folders with the children from Rooms 1 and 2. We have really enjoyed learning about Earth and the planets this term.
